AAAIP Evaluator Program Agreement

AAAIP will apply the program agreement as a set of enforceable standards which certificants must agree to abide by in order to retain certification as an AAAIP Evaluator.

I will:

  1. Complete my application fully and accurately, disclosing any issues that bear upon my ability and qualifications to be certified by AAAIP as an Evaluator of therapy animal teams.
  2. Fully comply with AAAIP Evaluation policies and procedures, including keeping accurate and complete records of Evaluations I conduct.
  3. Prioritize the welfare of animals participating in Evaluations.
  4. Act with honesty and integrity toward those practitioners seeking Evaluations, respecting their professional goals and the autonomy of their choices, provided they conform to societal and legal standards of humane treatment for their therapy animal.
  5. Never provide advice or recommendations in areas of veterinary medicine, animal behavior, or human and/or mental health services unless qualified to do so. This does not preclude referring to a veterinary or behavior consulting professional.
  6. Maintain and respect the confidentiality of all information obtained while providing Evaluations; refrain from disclosure of information about handlers, their clients, or their animals to others without explicit consent, except as required by law.
  7. Maintain and respect the confidentiality and security of all AAAIP Certification related materials including, but not limited to, refraining from: reproducing and/or disseminating team Evaluation materials without authorization.
  8. Represent my qualifications honestly, including education, competencies, certifications, and professional affiliations, and avoiding false or deceptive written or oral statements in offering or marketing my services as an Evaluator of therapy animal teams.
  9. Fully disclose to the handler in writing in advance the fee for the Evaluation, obtaining the handler’s written agreement about the fee, and not change or supplement my fee in connection with the Evaluation.
  10. Use properly authorized logos and credentials provided by AAAIP when marketing in print or electronic media.
  11. Maintain liability insurance coverage with at least $100,000 policy limits that includes coverage for claims related to my Evaluation activities.
  12. Never display acts of discrimination, acts of anger, acts of hate, acts of violence, bullying, sexual harassment, coercion, intimidation, or any act of that impedes or interferes with anyone’s civil rights.
